Teacher Sarrah Hammond

Hey there! My name is Sarrah Hammond and I’m the general teacher at Prairie Trail Elementary. I spent the first 2 years of my teaching career in Des Moines Public Schools where I taught K-5 general music. This past February, I joined Bloom Music Studio in Clive, IA where I teach general music and piano skills to preschool through 12th grade students. I’m so excited to join the Ankeny team and begin teaching music at Prairie Trail this year.

I graduated from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA with my Bachelors of Music Education degree in 2020. During the summer of 2022, I earned my  First Steps in Music certification from Central College in Pella, IA. My primary instruments are voice and clarinet.

In my free time I enjoy hiking, collecting plants, doodling, and hanging out with my cat, Mochi (moe-key).

I believe that everyone is innately musical. It is my goal as a music educator to guide my students (and others) through the discovery and exploration of their musical selves.
