Instructional Coach Melissa Iloabachie

Hello!  My name is Melissa Iloabachie (E-low-ah-bah-chee) and I have the pleasure of serving as an instructional coach for Ankeny Schools.  My teaching career started out as an elementary teacher and since then I have served as an instructional coach at one of our 6/7 buildings  am currently serving in one of our high schools.   I’m passionate about creating relevant, rigorous, and equitable learning experiences for all students so that they may achieve a lifetime of personal success.  Being an instructional coach allows me to collaborate with teachers, students, and administrators to create a safe learning environment where all can feel valued, appreciated, and vulnerable to explore new learning opportunities.

My husband and I live in Ankeny with our young daughter.  We moved here from Houston, Texas in 2012 where I lived for 6 years teaching elementary in a northwest Houston school district. I am a native Iowan and being away from Iowa made me realize how much I missed it and my family!  In my spare time I enjoy spending time with family, friends, baking, bike riding, reading, crafting, and traveling.

I’m so fortunate to be able to do what I do and serve in the different grade spans that I have for Ankeny Schools.  I enjoy seeing different sides of our K-12 system and hope to make a positive impact so that all students can achieve a lifetime of personal success.
