Library Associate Kathy Shannon

Hello, I am Mrs. Shannon, the Library/Media associate at Prairie Trail. 

I am responsible for day to day duties in the library/media center related to student and teacher needs. Book checkout and helping students and teachers find the right materials, either for curriculum needs and wants, or personal enjoyment are a big part of my day! I also supervise keyboarding sessions for grades 3-4, and share readalouds with grades K-2. I handle materials processing and repair. New library materials require a certain amount of time and care to become shelf ready. Occasionally damaged materials require special care to be enjoyed again. I also try to provide some technology assistance, and help our digital teacher with whatever might be needed.  And, oh yes, shelving those books!! 

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English and Instructional Media (Library Studies) from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and am a certified paraeducator with the state of Iowa-Level I Generalist PK-12, and Level II School Library Media PK-12.

My husband and I have two adult sons and one daughter-in-law.  I love to read, (do so constantly and like to share my favorite titles!), enjoy watching movies, going out to eat, and time with family and friends.
